Wood, Wood & more Wood.

This is what Jim & I have been doing for the past month and we have until the end of October to get what we may need for the winter. In the last 9 years that we have lived in Heber (side note) I can’t believe we have been up here that long.
We try to heat the house with our wood burning stove, the first year we was here my heat bill was over $300.00 and so that’s when we started to use. We burin 24-7 all winter. And that keeps my bill down to $100.00 so it’s well worth it.
So this year my friend at work told me how her family go’s and gets their wood and It reminded me of when I would go with my dad to cut trees and get wood for the winter so I talked Jim into doing this and can I just say it’s VERY hard work, we go when we can have a day off together or when we get off at 2:00 when we get done it about kicks our butt’s. I guess we need to know we’re not as young as we think….lol.
The thing about burning the wood is the heat I LOVE it. It can never be to hot in the house I about kill my son-in-laws off when they come up……but that’s ok…..

This is the reason there hasn't been a post for a while!

Announcement!!

My daughter Katie and her husband Shane have a very important announcement:

To all of our family and friends,

We hope to find all is well with you and your family. We are sending this letter to inform you of an exciting time in our family. After many years of extensive testing and much prayer we have decided as a family to adopt. After searching and praying about many adoption services we have chosen to adopt through LDS Family Services. The adoption process can be an exciting, yet long and expensive, process. We have created a blog regarding our adoption process. If you would like to follow along with us every step of the way, or help in any way, please visit:

www.shaneandkatiesadoption.blogspot.com

If you are wondering what to do to help us, here are some ways that you can help our dreams come true. First and foremost, if you know of a birthmother that wants to give her child a loving home please refer her to LDS Family Services. Our contact there is Brad and he can be reached at (702) 385-1072.

Secondly, we are trying to raise money to help with the financial expenses of adoption. Some of the ways you can help is by buying gifts to give to someone, donate your time at special events, donate talents you may have kept hidden, or any other way you can think of. Katie has begun to sale Scentsy products that would be a great gift for you, friends, or family. Her personal website is www.scentsy.com/katierogers where you can browse and buy products anytime directly from her.

Katie, and some of our close family members, have started making and selling baby items. These include booties, blankets, burp rags, hats, head bands, and hair clips. You can find out more at www.handmadesweetsomethings.blogspot.com

Last, but not least, we will be trying to put some fundraisers together. If you have donations for a Garage Sale, Bake Sale, Craft Sale, or would like to volunteer your time or talents for these events, please contact us by phone, email, or mail.

We have always known that there are more children for us. Our family is really excited to begin this new chapter in our lives. With the help of family and friends, we know this can happen. Again, we want to express our thanks to all of you for your love and support.

With much love,

Shane, Katie, and Braydon Rogers

P.S: Our first big fundraiser event will be a Summer Yard Sale, held in Utah, around the end of July. If you have any items you would like to donate we can arrange to have things picked up if needed.

I am so proud of Katie and Shane and have been working very hard to help them! I have been spending most of my time crocheting baby booties and beanies.  We are selling these items on Etsy (you can access Etsy through Sweet Something's) You can also contact any of us and let us know of any way you can help! Any prayers, donations or items to sell, will be greatly appreciated!   Again, thank you!

February update

It's been a while, not because I'm busy but because nothing interesting is going on. I have just been doing a lot of spring cleaning and dejunking. It's funny how much junk you can accumulate and not even realize it. So let's just say I have a lot of stuff for a summer garage sale! I can't wait until it gets warm enough to start on the outside. Since i really have nothing else to say--here is a rundown of what happened during February!

*Emily's 18th birthday--we helped her buy her first car, which was really exciting. Lindsey recommended us to the UCCU repo car list and got a great deal! It is a 2001 Pontiac Grandam for $2100. Can't beat that!

*Jim and I decided to join the new local spa/fit club. I get a discount since i work at Day's Market---so we are trying to tone up for the summer!

So that's pretty much it, besides helping my mom with some different things. We are hoping that march will be a little more eventful. Katie and Shane are coming down the end of the month, so we are getting the whole family together and some friends to play a friendly game of Texas hold 'em. So I'll let you know if I'm the big winner!

Not a whole lot going on…….;o(

WOW! There is just not much going on around here but SNOW…………. So I thought I would share something that is keeping me warm this winter. About 2 years ago my wonderful sister in law Cherish helped me make this beautiful quilt top and I was going to hand quilt it...... ya riiiiight…….lol Jim gave me one of them new quilting stands that roll and I still don’t know how to use it! I feel so bad. So this last fall I asked Cherish how much she would charge me to finish my quilt.  She offered to do it for free, but of course I didn't let that happen! It would have cost me a fortune if I were to get it done professionally! She has a friend that has a quilting sewing machine and quilted it the whole thing together.  It turned out so wonderful. So I just wanted to say I love you Cherish!!  Thank you so much!!!  I love it!

Fun Weekend with Nichoas & Delaney

This last weekend I had Nicholas and Delaney come up and stay with me. It all started on Friday. Jessica and Travis dropped them off at my mom’s at noon because they were leaving to spend the weekend with Katie & Shane. So Grandma Winnie said they could come entertain her. When they found out they were going to Grandma Winnie’s for an hour they were very excited to get to see and talk to her.
When we got back into Heber I took them to the little King’s store so they could pick out something to play with while they were up at the house. Nicholas picked a toy gun and Laney picked a Brat doll. We then went home and just hung out for the rest of the night we had pizza and popcorn (it had to be Grandma Nettie’s popcorn with lots of real better and no salt)
The next day we had a nice big breakfast and got ready for the day, Grandpa and Nicholas
went to the PD to work out while me and Laney stayed home and found some really cool things like a Gum Drop Doll that has a porcelain head and hands. She was in heaven she would not put it down. She also found all the hats she could find in the house and tried them all on. It was pretty funny. We also made some Valentines to give to their mom we all had a great time. Jim and I love having them come up and spend time with us.

My Grandma Cherrington's Bell Collection

My Grandma Cherrington's Bell Collection......

When my grandma Cherrington passed away each of us grandkids got to have something that was hers.  I got her bell collection I was so excited to have such a treasure that she loved. Whenever Jim and I would go visit her we would always talk to her about it and and ask her where each one came from it was so fun to listen to her talk about them. When she died she maybe had 20 to 30 bells. She’s been gone now for 16 years and I have added some to the collection it has been so fun getting new ones.

When my dad was alive he would ask anyone that was going on a trip to get me a bell so I have some from England, Holland, France, Israel, Jerusalem, Mexico and from all over the US. My mom and kids and some of my friends have given me some really cool ones whenever they have traveled. This last weekend I took them all down and cleaned them and put them all back which is not an easy thing!! As you can see,  I have a lot more than grandma had. I didn’t count them but I know I have just over a 100 because I think it was like 3 years ago Lindsey counted them and at the time I had 99 so for Christmas she got me # 100 and I’ve since added to it. I have a lot of favorites, but one of my most favorite is my Lady Dianna and Prince Charles Wedding bell. My mom and dad’s neighbor is from England she had gone home to visit and dad had asked her to get me a bell and we would pay her for it. When she came home she had this really beautiful bell. When we asked her where she got it she had said from an antique store and she would not let us pay her. I would love to have it appraised just for fun, but I would never sale it.

Each of my girls have told me that they want the collection when I’m ready to give it away but I just laugh and say not yet…….lol

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Jessie……..

It was Jessie’s birthday on January 3 she is my second daughter out of 4 and our first birthday of the year. So yes, 26 years ago I had a beautiful baby girl. Jessie has always been a joy to our family she is always so much fun to be with, when she was little she was her daddy’s little shadow she loved doing things with him; be it cleaning a car and trying to get gum off a seat or roofing our first home. I remember when she was little she had cut her own bangs and brought them into me to let me know that they had fallen off. I think she was thinking she wouldn’t get in to much trouble if they fell off……..lol.

Out of all my kids she was the one, that started talking at a very young age. It surprised us all when she could say whole sentences when she was no more than one. She loved playing with all her cousins and her friends. She has always been the one to have a great time when family got together. I love taken picture of her she always seem to be having a great time. She also loves to hang out with her sisters.

She has grown to be a great wife to Travis and a fantastic mom to her two kids Nichoalas and Delaney.

I just wanted to let everyone know what a really great daughter I have and I also wanted to let you know Jessie how amazing you are. We are so proud of everything you have done with your life. We love you Jess

Las Vegas Winter

I just have to say I could so move to Vegas and never miss the snow or cold. Emily and I went to Katie's the weekend after Christmas and we loved it. Lindsey and Brandon also went down for the week we had a really good time, laying around, shopping, and game playing. We did talk Emily into watching Hannah & Braydon one night after they went to sleep so we could go to a casino so the boys could play Texas hold em and Katie, Lindsey & I could play a little Bingo we had a really good time it was the first time Lindsey got to go with us and yes she got ID every where she went.......LOL (I wish I had that problem) We played two rounds Katie did win $25.00.

We found that I'm no good at playing guitar hero but I had fun playing Legos batman with Braydon I think he liked playing with me because he was better than me. I found out that i don't like the Wii fit. They had me get on that thing and we all found that I'm a lot older then I want to be........lol.
Let’s just say NO I will not be getting a wii (Lindsey & Katie).

I got back home to the snow and putting Christmas away so now it's back to work and getting back to regular life. Here is some pic's from Vegas

I hope everyone had a great Christmas & let’s hope for a great New Year.........;o)
